Support our programs and our community by contributing the gift of your time to the Red Hook Community Farm, which is across from IKEA (for directions see our Contact Us page). Volunteer hours are every Friday and Saturday, 10am-1pm, May through November (see below for winter hours). Please arrive before 10 am so we can gather everyone all at one time for a helpful orientation and then organize the group into teams for particular tasks. Traveling to the Farm by subway may require that you allow significant extra time to be on time (see Contact Us page for more info), but the B61 bus stops right across the street at IKEA.
We are on the farm rain or shine. Depending on the weather you may want to bring a hat, sunscreen, sweatshirt or jacket, water bottle, rain boots, rain jacket, and a lunch or snack.
In the winter our compost team is still working on the Farm, and you can check the calendar on our home page for “community composting” to learn the times when you can volunteer. For composting, wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty, and when it’s cold consider bringing your favorite hot beverage in a thermos.
Our wonderful volunteers mean a lot to us, and we appreciate all the hard work and energy!
If you are interested in setting up a group volunteer day with your organization, or to inquire about volunteering in the office, please use the Contact Us page on our website.
